adiZERO Crazy Light - the lightest shoe in basketball

Here is the the adiZero Crazy Light and design process.

Weighing in at an unbelievable 9.8 ounces, the Crazy Light is being touted as the lightest basketball shoe on the market by more than 15% over the next lightest shoe. With the introduction of the Crazy Light, adidas now has the lightest footwear in three sports, including football (adiZero 5-Star cleat) and soccer (F50 adiZero cleat).

To construct the Crazy Light, the adidas Basketball Design Team started building from scratch, as opposed to stripping down an existing concept.

Technology incorporated into the Crazy Light starts with the revolutionary new SPRINTWEB exoskeleton upper. SPRINTWEB is less than 1mm thick and is seamlessly bonded to a nylon base for weight reduction and added support. The web layout provides players with vertical and horizontal strength, which comes in handy when making cuts.

The SPRINTFRAME heel counter and TORSION SYSTEM are fused together to reduce weight, increase energy return and improve motion control. The eyelets are load bearing and have corresponding web spars to enhance support. Translucent nylon is used for the upper's build, once again decreasing weight and giving players 360-degree ventilation.

New Puma Powercat 1.12

Here is the new Puma Powercat 1.12

The first thing you notice about Puma’s latest power boots incarnation are the rubber pads over the toes of the boot, similar to those seen on the Nike Total 90s. It is still impressive design.

Puma has been ditched in favour for the newly redesigned 3D PST. Puma improved the 3D Power Shooting zone and returned with strategically placed rubber strips aimed to encourage curve and power, they are seemingly made with the striker in mind. Not only will the 3D PST aid kicking, the off centre lacing increases the instep for better pressure distribution and reduce the force of ball impact.

New adidas F50 adiZero Boots & miCoach SpeedCell_design by Andreas Konrads

This could be a turning point in football boot history. Here is the adidas miCoach Speed Cell.

Whether on field, on court, in a game or in training, your movements are captured. Easy to use. No wires - just you, your shoes and your new SpeedCell. On-Board Memory stores all measurements during your workout/game (every 5 sec). Afterwards the file is sent wirelessly to your mobile App or your PC/MAC or your iPhone/iPod. Key performance metrics are captured/measured every second in all directions. Instantly compete and compare your stats. Know how fast you are, brag about it, get rewarded, get status.

The miCoach SpeedCell and platform allows you to compare your stats vs. your team, your league, your state, the pros. And to easily share the data with your friends, coach, and community. Records: Time: per session, and cumulative Distance: per session, in cumulative Speed: max. speed per session, fastest speed Number of Sprints
MiCoach adiZeros designed by Adidas product manager Andreas Konrads.
He described the new f50 as "the world's first boot with a brain", also stated that "it was important that we didn't sacrifice any performance benefits such as flexibility which is something that you want to have on a football boot."
The chip lets you track your performance during a match, highlighting 360-degree movement, so not just linear action as per similar setups for runners. It collects data on your speed and distance and, when paired with the Speed Cell software, gives you a detailed breakdown of your performance including your average speed, the distance you covered, the time you spent walking, the number of sprints and so on. It teams up with a USB dongle that operates over a wireless connection when the boots are nearby.

Under Armour New American Football Uniform Design

Here is Under Armour's new uniform design for three US college football teams to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that provides programs and services to injured service members and their families.
South Carolina will be the first team to wear the new uniforms when they go up against Auburn on Oct. 1. The other two schools are Texas Tech and South Florida. On Nov. 12, the Red Raiders will wear their UA Wounded Warrior uniforms in a game against Oklahoma State; and South Florida will get their chance on Nov. 19, when they take on the University of Miami.
Under Armour is designing new cleats and gloves for each school, and each program will replace athletes’ names on the backs of their jerseys with a core value: Duty, Honor, Courage, Commitment, Integrity, Country or Service.

Custom jerseys will be auctioned off on each school’s website after the games, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the latest Wounded Warrior Project, “Believe in Heroes.” UA will make a limited number of  jerseys available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds going to Believe in Heroes.
